Congratulations on passing your road test! I have a question, does the instructor ask you to park downhill or uphill when your taking the road test?

Can you elaborate on this?

I take my test here on wednesday and I see this is a common failure spot

Is it like an intersection where you make a turn and you need to go to the right side?

@@odysseyelias3570 basically imagine if you're coming from a side street and you see a double line on the main road. To go left, you have to pass the double line to get to the right lane.

So what did you end up doing?

@@stellarful You pull up straight to the testing lane where the guy in the video is at, you don't have to go inside the building. From there, an instructor will come out, ask you to turn on your left and right blinkers, as well as to press down on your brake (checking to see if the lights work). Then, they check your permit, ID (not all 6 points, just something that can identify you, like a passport), and likely your car's insurance and registration info. If everything is valid, they'll get in your car and eventually tell you to begin driving. By the way, this video is still an accurate representation of what the test is like. A couple stop signs and turns, parallel parking, a k-turn, and reversing straight backwards.

Yes, I did the Parallel parking first, K-turn and the reverse backing. I was told the examniers can ask you to do these in any order. It all depends on the examiner. I got lucky to get a nice guy.

@princessbahiyyih8599 yes, the examiner tells you to stop and do the reverse backing. I did put the car in park after I parallel parked. He then proceeded in telling me to do the K-turn.

I didn't have to go back to the beginning. I just went around to do the stops signs a few more times and was done.

@@Gabriel-ql3ro YES I DID!! It was a lady with copper locs and she was so sweet. Cried a little. It went super fast and it was super easy if you know your stuff and practiced etc.

When you answer it'll tell you immediately if you got it wrong or not. Then it moves onto the next question.

Skip option also there, skip it if you are not 100% sure about the answer. The skipped questions can be answered later.

Good luck and just focus on passing even if the instructor is a jerk

@@user-mf4ez7vy3u yeah that junk was easy as heck, sorry for the late response, everything was so easy, the hardest part was waiting in line to take the test because you get nervous, but the speed limit is 20, I went under 15, because its practically impossible to go 15 and over without crashing or going into another lane, the instructors there are very nice, as long as you can parallel park, make k point turn, and not touch lines or hit curbs on turns, very easy, even parallel parking was easy, you only go 20 when you go are about to end the test, it was so easy, that I wanted to take it again 3 more times

and also Rahway MVC, if you see this comment, get a new paintjob was your road course test, it is messy, junky, and outdated, fix it up, I got a bit confused on where to go when I finished my k point turn, but the left turn, that everyone seems to fail so easily was easy for me, praise God!

@@theonlygoodonehere2259 Glory be to God! I failed the exact left turn you're talking about :(. The instructor I got was mad rude and just made me more nervous. After i completed the k point turn, the instructor told me to hurry up aggressively. And I failed the left turn. Honestly so disappointed in myself I could have just ignored him but no I panicked.

@@user-mf4ez7vy3u oh dang, nothing pisses me off more than hearing about your story, you will surely pass the 2nd time, I blame the stupid scraped off paintjob, it looks all messy and stuff, and trust me, you will get a way better instructor, go in 2 weeks, do the process again, and this ignore the instructor, and make that left turn, and speed up to 20, and you will get that drivers license you deserve

@Momo Polite I passed my first try, honestly keep your cool. It might be difficult to do but just think about it like a parking lot. Make sure your parallel parking is A1 and you’ll pass easily. Took me less than 5 minutes to finish the test.

@Momo Polite I was going 15 and the instructor told me to speed up actually, they said up to 25 I was actually surprised so I did 20 the whole time

@Momo Polite if you say, tap the curb a little bit and ask “can I restart?” They most likely will give you another shot. Also keep in mind, there’s no time limit, don’t rush. You can go as slow as you want during the parking. They won’t mark you for that.

I had a question this Friday I have the exam and where u parallel park and do the turn there’s a stop sign but there’s no line on the floor do u have to stop there or no?

Low average speed? What speed do they expect the candidates to drive at?

Since your the most recent comment I've seen, I need to ask, do they expect you to do the hand over hand turning for the steering wheel and putting your hand behind the passenger seat when reversing cause I drive pretty well but I don't really do those two things and my driver instructor didn't push for me to do it either so I'm not sure if that's still a requirement these days?

@@alysiagoldsberry3495 I did all of my turns using hand over hand and I also put my hand behind the passenger seat and looked out the back window when reversing. Because I was doing it I don’t know if they would have said anything if I had done it differently. They never had a reason to mention it. I THINK both of those are required but only because my driving instructor insisted they were.

@@AbhishekNandgaonkar well I just passed mine, and I mean a quick glance won't hurt, but really, they expect your head turned back and looking behind you when your parking, no staring at the camera

Congratulations! I’m so nervous for mine. I feel like every instructor is strict about different things. When you made your turns did you let the wheel slide back around or did you physically turn it back yourself? Also did they ask you to identify everything in the car like the defogger, high beams, wipers and stuff?

@@avaa1217 personally when I turn to the right I turn the wheel once to the right and then left after the car turns to straighten out the wheel. Vice versa when turning left. I went with a driving school so the instructor that took us did the checklist for the car. They mostly want to see signal light, brakes, and emergency brake. I really didn’t see any of the graders check for arm signals. Just know where they are located so you have some sort of idea where they are. Just breathe and you’ll do good 👍🏽

@@h.c21 Thank you! I’m going with a driving school too. My first instructor literally made me learn how to glide the wheel back after a turn and then they gave me a new teacher who says people can fail for that. Now I have to remember to turn the wheel back myself 😩. It ‘s hard to unlearn things.

@@avaa1217 lmao that’s true but I would recommend doing the hand-over-hand so it becomes a habit. Honestly it really depends on the grader because some are more stricter.

Hi question when you make a turn can you let the wheel slide through your fingers afterwards or do you need to physically turn it back yourself? Thank you so much for the update. I just moved my test because I had a different instructor today and he had slightly different instructions which made me more nervous. Also congratulations!

@@avaa1217 thank you . Yea you can let it slide back that’s fine just keep your hands in the 3:00 & 9:00 or 10 & 2 . I’m not gonna lie , we over think it because this test was so easy and quick that I couldn’t believe it lol . I’m certain that you’d pass with the first try . We were talking about the geese that were out as I drove around that’s how easy it is lol .

I know I’m over thinking it but I literally just mastered letting the wheel slide back around through my fingers and then my school sent me a different instructor who said they could fail me for that! It is hard to go back to physically turning the wheel back after a turn. It seems like there is always something they can fail you for. I’m just going to keep practicing and pray lol.

@@avaa1217 you’re gonna be going so slow that the wheel is gonna slide back slowly anyway lol . Yup a lil practice and a prayer and you’re straight . Make sure you come back and share the good news ✊🏾
